Private Gardens are so interesting. They reflect the outer nature of a home, and the tastes and desires of the residents. We like to create outdoor spaces people can fully inhabit and enjoy, or equally important enjoy a view of their garden from inside. We place a premium on creating the best possible relationship between house & garden.

Flying Dog Farm

Vashon Island, WA

We named our farm after our beloved dog Daisy. In her early days she was frequently seen flying through the air chasing deer and hunting miscellaneous ground-dwellers. Our farm has a ¼ acre production garden overflowing with food and flowers. We have learned much about drought tolerance and the appetite of deer as well as the value of lowering maintenance in the garden through establishment of various planting zones.

Deer fencing is critical for edible gardens on Vashon.
Edibles are freely mixed with ornamental and insectary plants.
Zones of delineated maintenance radiate out from the Edible Garden, being the highest, to shrub borders, mown area and un-mown fields further out.
